I'M BAAACK !!

Hey yall - I had to take a bit of a break from vinyl work, because my world turned completely upside down by way of a divorce. But, I'm good, my world is pieced back together mostly & the Georgia Sheriff's Association is getting me back on the horse !

A bit of back story with this blog entry, just because I can - I was originally scheduled to teach a one-hour block at the Summer Sheriff's Conference. Because I'm a one woman show and have two littles to care for, I started making decals early, so as not to intrude on my kid time the following week. But about two weeks before my day, I was canceled due to some political involvement that I don't know the details of.

THEN - my Sheriff called me Tuesday evening. He asked if I would still be willing to come to their conference and teach. Of course, I agreed to ! He notified my chain of command and everything was set back to normal. I made another 50-something decals that night, and took 200 to the conference with me.

Once I got there - the speaker before me ran over time. And, the nerves hit. I told my Sheriff I was gonna throw up, like I do every time I'm about to get up in front of people. And then, it hit me.

One of the stories I tell in this presentation involves someone who was sitting in that room. I tried to warn him ahead of time, but he was suddenly nowhere to be found.

I made my way to the stage, gave an abridged version of my one-hour Autism training to approximately 90 Sheriffs (or their right hand man), and included an explanation of a new law that takes effect in Georgia January 1st of 2027.

When I got to the story about my friend, he had not returned & missed the entire bit involving him, walking in literally the sentence after I finished our story! It was hilariously timed, and everyone else in the room enjoyed the irony as much as I did !

Several times I was told I did a wonderful job, including from my Sheriff who had never seen my presentation until that day. He gave me a hug and I think was genuinely surprised at how well I did, considering my typical nervousness. And then, someone from GSA put me on the spot and told everyone about the previous scheduling issue and that I had given them that presentation on a last minute plan. I think there was a round of applause but I was beside myself and can't remember now.

I've already had one Sheriff reach out for more information and one told me he's interested in partnering with the project.

And, I get to do it again next week for the GSA Administrators Conference! At St. Simon's Island !
